LA Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower

SOL_1870 SOL_1872

For those in the industry, LA Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower is a must attend event! Networking, socializing and discovering new vendors in one place, what else can yo ask for? Especially when complimentary drinks are being served alongside amazing chocolates from the Nobu Hotel in Vegas! Hosted by Mikey Koffman, celebrities such as Kam Horne from Tia & Tamera, alongside designers and international model, Carissa Rosario graced the red carpet for Sunday’s finale show.

The event started with a cocktail party, free sake shots, beer, wine and Arizona teas for attendees. I had the pleasure of being interviewed about the event, but did not have a chance to ask where it would be shown later so if you find a reel that features me, let me know! 🙂

After all the fashion shows I’ve been to in the last few weeks, I must say that the designs from that evening blew me away. Styles were impeccable and the dresses were breathtaking! The downside was that it was a brief show. It definitely left me wanting more. The only complaint I have, as with every show, is that the seating sucked in terms of photography. Please event coordinators, it is for your best interest to provide better seating options for us. Otherwise the photos will suck and I refuse to put poor quality images on my site.

LA Emerging Designers Fashion Show

The LA Emerging Designers had their very first fashion show on October 17th at the Church of Scientology. The venue was gorgeous and even offered tours after the show. LA based designers showcased their latest collections down the runway as audience members applauded for their favorite picks. I had the pleasure of reuniting with Sheridan Street of Word On The Street and Zella of iiRockFashion. These gorgeous, intelligent ladies were on point with their fashion picks for the evening. Had a great time and loved the looks. Looking forward to next year’s event!

Fall Warmth

So it hasn’t really gotten too cold in SoCal yet, at least not during the day where temperatures are still up in the 80’s. Kimonos have been trending lately and I adore this lightweight multi printed kimono from AMI Clubwear! It’s the perfect pop for any outfit, especially a plain outfit such as mine. I wanted the focus to be on the kimono so I paired it with studded black shorts, a basic white tank top and ankle booties. I was comfortable throughout the day and into the evening. I apologize for the brief summary but I don’t have much time now. Until next post, enjoy these shots by the boyfriend 🙂

Marciano Fall Fashion Show

The Marciano Fall Fashion Show at The Grove a couple of weekends ago was short and sweet, however it did showcase a great variety of items that I would love to incorporate into my wardrobe! The fashion show was 30 minutes and was hosted by the beautiful Rocsi Diaz. An after party was held at Marciano, which included champagne, cake pops and a photo op with Rocsi. I ran into my friend An of, along with her hubby, Chris. Had a fun time catching up with them at the event. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to take any outfit photos but the dress worn is from Angl.

P.S. Excuse the video quality as it was recorded on my iPhone 5. The photos were also taken on the phone as I forgot my camera at home *oops.

SFW: Consort 62 + Civil Society

Last Tuesday KSole and I were invited by Civil Society to attend their show at Style Fashion Week. We were treated to front row seats during the show, however, I do have to say that the position of the seats made it very hard to capture decent photos. Flash photography was not allowed for the audience so there were only a few selected pictures that came out to my liking.

The show included two designers, Consort 62 and Civil Society. Consort 62 kicked off the evening with their day wear and swimwear collection. The company can be described as “a little hipster, a little hooker.” Many of the models were shirtless, which the women in the audience had no problem with as they cheered and hooted. Created by Kenneth Chang, the brand claims to be “not just another young men’s contemporary fashion line” as it is also a “social commentary on the nuances of the LA man.”

Civil Society followed right after Consort 62, showcasing designs that are inspired by “the passion, creativity and original style of musicians and everyday people.” KSole and I liked the laid back, casual styles paired with Doc Martens. Speaking of which, we sat right next to the great folks of Doc Martens that evening who were friendly and very nice!

Overall, we had a great time and if you missed the previous post, you can click here to see what I wore that evening. Thank you Civil Society for having us.

Blushing Sunsets

Last week was Style Fashion Week and although I did not have the time to attend every evening of the event, I was able to make it to Tuesday night’s show. As a guest of Civil Society (thank you for the VIP treatment), I was able to witness some wonderful designs up close and personal. In addition, I met the gorgeous beauty blogger, Holly Annaeree along with a few members of Quest Crew! Full recap of the event will be released shortly.

My outfit of the night was a beautiful Dusty Peach Strappy Back Stylish Chic Dress from AMI Clubwear. I adore the faux leather strap detailing of the back of this dress and the empire waistline. The only complaint I have is about the fit. I received this dress in a small, however their small fits loosely on me and I had to tie the straps at the waist around myself three times. I’ve also found that “small” at AMI Clubwear is the incorrect size for me. I definitely need a XS when it comes to their clothes. For shoes, I also advise sizing down as they run rather large.

Overall, AMI Clubwear has tons of cute selections but stock runs out quick so make sure to buy it as soon as you see it! The upside is that they add new items everyday. Thank you AMI Clubwear for the dress!

A Beach Break

First off, I want to wish my cousin a very happy birthday! Hope you have a great celebration Celina!

Now continuing on with my recent travels…

I had the chance to visit Victoria Beach recently and as I look at these photos, I am truly missing it! The boyfriend and I took some time to relax and enjoy the scenery, while squeezing in a mini photo shoot.

While at the beach, it gave me some time to take a mental break from the craziness of life. Everyone needs a break and the more breaks, the better. Hustling is great, but exhaustion and stress can damage your health. I’ve learned the hard way, several times. I’m always reminded to slow down by friends and family, but sometimes it is hard to just stop. I get wrapped up in attending events, meetings and social outings that I forget that I’m only human. So, make sure to rest, relax and enjoy life to its fullest!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and a fun weekend!

TopShop After Party + Gap x Instyle Events

So many events, so little time. Last Thursday, I event hopped within The Grove, visiting Topshop (for the first time) and Gap, who did a collaboration event with Instyle magazine.

I know I’m probably the last person to visit Topshop, but I just have not had the time to shop lately. The LA Fashion Council hosted their Spring 2014 Collections after party at Topshop in The Grove. The event was held upstairs with DJ Niena Drake spinning some great music. Champagne and sweet treats were served to guests, as people browsed the shoes and racks of clothes. I loved the ambiance of the store and the mannequins were so stylish. The boyfriend and I ventured around in the store, mentally adding things onto our wish lists for Christmas. I just hope that I get what I want in December!

After Topshop, we headed to Gap for their collaboration event with Instyle magazine featuring a Q&A session with Jenn Rogien, costume designer for the latest hit series ‘Orange is The New Black.’ We had a couple more sips of champagne and devoured a few more delicious desserts at the event, while enjoying music from the DJ. I think we had the most fun at the photo booth, provided by The Bosco. I got some good tips and advice from Jenn, in regards to the industry and working your way to the top during the Q&A session. It’s always great to hear how someone made their way up. SOL_9950 SOL_9953 SOL_9964 SOL_9970

As for the outfit, I went really casual with jeans, boots and a laced white top from Style Says. I didn’t have time (or energy) to take outfit shots, but hopefully you get the idea with the couple of photos I have above 🙂 Since this post was more of an events recap, it’ll be filed under “Travel Diary”, despite the traveling being around L.A. – ha.

The Red Lipstick

My final outfit for San Diego Fashion Week was this black romper from Urban Outfitters that I instantly fell in love with. Paired up with leopard print low heels and MAC’s lipstick, it was the perfect outfit for the finale night of SDFW. We were really running behind this night so pardon my expression, as I wasn’t too happy about being late. FYI, the clutch had a pair of black flats as backup, as you never know when you may need a quick wardrobe change.

As for accessories, this necklace from Forever 21 and the bracelet was made by Jenny. I kept it simple, as I wanted the focus to stay on the romper. I cannot wait to wear it again, it’s so comfty and cute! SOL_9006 SOL_9014

During intermission, I headed over to the step and repeat to squeeze in a photo, but ended up doing an impromptu interview about the show. It was my first time on camera and I hope I didn’t sound too nervous! Can’t wait to see the end result later. Be on the lookout for it 🙂
